Lulu Cameron was a highly sought after multi-talented artist from Ferndale, Detroit. She worked in collage, assemblage, and paintings doing many socially driven installations and creations. Lulu passed away in April of 2025 just before an opening of her retrospective at Pizzo Studio in Ferndale. Lulu fell on some hard times early 2025 with a flood of her shop so her friend and shop neighbor Michelle Pizzo offered to host a retrospective at her gallery to get her back on her feet. Lulu saw the show hung and was overjoyed at the support that she received. Sadly just days before the show opened, Lulu passed away from a cold she caught on her way back from travelling. The retrospective turned into a memorial of her work and was quickly sold out by friends and family. Few pieces remain for sale/resale at select galleries. 

For her inspirations Cameron said, “I like to pick up unusual, handmade stuff, and I search all over. I don’t order anything from catalogues,” and “I’ve been a painter, and an artist in general, for so long, but I still search for inspiration everywhere. I have about 35 illustrated journals, and sometimes I’ll take a look at past entries and be inspired by ideas that never came to fruition.” Lulu Cameron was an inspiration to all those around her and her creativity shined through in all she created.
